Shelley Davis holds an MFA Degree from SUNY New Paltz in photography and painting. She is well known for her avant garde "photo-fusion" (a union of photography, painting and sculpture) and feminist art which she began creating in the 1960's.

Davis' work has been exhibited in museums and art galleries world wide. She has garnered rave reviews in publications such as the Village Voice. Her work has appeared in numerous art and photography publications.

During the 1970's Shelley Davis was art director for an award winning film short and a PBS-TV special, "Portrait Of A Mime." Her photographs of dancers and musicians have been used to promote the work of multitudes of performers. Her intricate designs have also graced the covers of numerous record albums. During the 1980's, while Davis taught in the film department at New York University, Davis collaborated with Judith Stiles (mother of actress Julia Stiles), and the result was "Duet," a book of prose and visuals by these best friends. They also co-curated an exhibit for Pratt Institute called "Photo-Fusion" which later travelled across the U.S. and Europe.

Taking a haitus from the fine art world, Davis founded "Shelle' Designs" in New York City. Her involvement in the field of the decorative arts, jewelry and accessories resulted in accounts with such upscale establishments as Barneys New York, Henri Bendel, Macys, and Disney Productions. Celebrities whose names include Peggy Fleming, Daryl Hannah and Madonna were caught by the paparazzi wearing Shelle' creations!

Davis relocated from her Greenwich Village apartment to Ulster County after witnessing the 9/11 attack on the WTC. She states that her heart and soul have never left the Hudson River Valley and that her strongest inspiration comes from the beauty and energy that surround her. Her deep regard for animals and nature is reflected in her art work.
